In honor of Professor Isamu Akasaki of Meijo University and Professor Hiroshi Amano of Nagoya University for winning the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics, the Akasaki-Amano Nobel Prize Memorial Exhibition Hall was established in the Alumni Association Hall of the Tempaku Campus. At a special preview of the hall on March 27, the day before the March 28 public opening, Professor Akasaki, Professor Amano, Chairman Hideo Ogasawara, President Koichi Yoshihisa, and invited guests of the Koyu-kai Meijo University Alumni Association enjoyed the exhibits.

The exhibition hall is on the fourth floor of the Alumni Association Hall, which was completed in June 2016. The replica of the Nobel medal and the description panels were moved to the entrance room of the hall from the Nobel Prize in Physics Commemorative Exhibition Corner on the second floor of the University Library. Also in the hall is a glowing-blue, transparent LED monument in the shape of a hexagonal column, which had been created in December 2015 and was moved to the hall from the library.

In a room facing Route 153 is a display case with items including letters of appreciation, testimonials, and souvenirs that Professor Akasaki received from the Prime Minister, the Governor of Aichi, and the Governor of Kagoshima, his home prefecture.

Participants at the preview enjoyed the exhibits and spoke with the Nobel laureates about this glorious achievement, vowing to use this great success for the betterment of the university’s education and research capabilities.

The exhibition hall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
